NOTE: These interviews are several years old, and while the info from the musicians is still excellent, some of the references to upcoming gigs, workshops, etc., are dated. In other words, please don't show up for a gig that happened 5 years ago. Just enjoy the podcast for what it is. And the next time you see the musician is playing in your area...make a point to go hear them "live"!

About Grace McKinley...

Grace McKinley
at age 16.
Dec. 25, 1902

Barb Biffle Bennett
granddaughter of Grace,
& slightly older than 16

Grace McKinley is the alter ego of Barb Biffle Bennett, Lincoln, NE, musician and webmaster. Actually, Grace was Barb's maternal grandmother who passed away in 1964. The McKinley ancestors came to America from the area around Moville in County Donegal. When Barb developed Celtic Heartland as a radio show for KZUM in January of 2003, she thought that the host should have a Celtic sounding name, and her grandmother's name seemed perfect!

Grace was a businesswoman at a time when there were very few of them. She was a go-getter who enjoyed carpentry, travel, sewing, bridge & her insurance business. So who knows...she might very well have enjoyed doing a radio show, had she had the chance. Well, her spirit took wing again with Celtic Heartland.

The show was produced and hosted each week by Barb as Grace McKinley. It ran from January 3, 2003, thru September 30, 2007. She left to devote more time to other endeavors, but always had the idea to bring it back in some format more attuned to today's listening audiences.

Barb is now reviving her popular radio show as a monthly podcast.  As she did on-air, she will feature regular interviews with Celtic musicians and occasionally writers and others with Celtic connections. The podcast formula allows people to either listen on-line or download the interviews/music used on those interviews as MP3's.

Contact her if you would like more information, to set up an interview, or to suggest someone to interview.

In addition to her day job as a webmaster, Barb is half of the successful duo, Wee Brazen Hussies. She is also a former member of the contra dance band, Hot Rosin. She suffers from MIS...multiple instrument syndrome, and is married to Don Bennett, who has the same affliction. They are not seeking a cure.
